Fairy Dots 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Pretty and dainty, which is what we expect of fairies.

I have spent quite a few hours playing with the fairy dot blocks, and now have a library of 200 in which the basic floral has been twisted and tuned every which way. Once I put them into a quilt layout I can use something I designed as a border block turned inside out to be part of the diagonal border within the overall design.

I wonder how many virtual quilt designs could be made from the 200 blocks, and that is without using a wider mix of fabrics so ...

Fairy Dots 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Lovely, but how would I quilt it? I would scatter a few birds, or fairies might be appropriate, flying around with a lot of filler, perhaps cross hatch.

Love the second design, and I would enlarge those quilted wreaths to fill the space between the border and the centre part of the design, then fill in with cross hatch, or perhaps stippling.

Fairy Dots 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

I have played with this collection of blocks for several years, and the block collection has grown to 200! They were inspired by the berries on stems hanging out of the side of the pot in the block shown below from the Electric Quilt Library. Another version is used in another block in the same library, Horn of Plenty, but that is the one which started this project!
